Abstract

The present paper deals with meaning of istafal verb form in Glorious Quran especilly the triple gemination. This verb is characteried by having /2/ and /1/ as one stressed letter such as () qarra. If we remove its assimilation it become qarrara and if we form it following the form istafal, we shall have istaqarra.
This form was repeated 17 times in the Glorious Quran which belong to seven verbs ordered alphabetically as istahabba, istahaqqa, istakhaffa, istazalla. istaaffa, istaffazza and istaqarra.
These occurences were sematically analysed by resorting to lexicons first and Quraanic hermenutics and studies secondly. Our method of analysis is to cite the lexical meaning of the verb and then to cite the places of occarence in the Glorious Quran showing in each place the meaning in the Quranic context according to what we could find in interpretations and studies and Quranic. Depending an the rhetorical aspects of the text.
