Abstract

In the wake of the First World War, France sought to control parts of the Eastern Arab world in order to secure interests and extend its influence for a long period of time, so it took the initiative to establish many entities and states that posed a threat to the future of the region. We will shed light in this research on one of the French endeavours that was shown by documents as a dangerous attempt, which did not succeed, to control the North and the Northwest of Iraq at the borders with Turkey and Syria and during a critical period in the contemporary history of Iraq.
