Abstract

The present work is an inductive investigation to() ( allathi; who, that, which) relative clause in the Glorious Quran. Grammarians are unanimously on agreement that the relative clause is an independent linguistic construct, integral structurally and implying a series of attributive sub functions. Its main grammatical function, however, is to specify the relative noun, which is connected grammatically to the linguistic context of the whole discourse . the study aims at specifying the patterns of the relative clause in the Glorious Quran and the pragmatic signification and connotations derived from each pattern depending on context. The audience cannot but be taken by the grandeur of composition, the excellency of word order, the influential power and good style of the Glorious Quran . The patterns of ( )relative clause in the Glorious Quran are magnificent reflections loaded with various solid significations .
