Abstract

Journalism is one of the source which we have to rely on in writing the history of modern Iraq. It contains essays that reflect the people view points, their problem, the weakness of their social Political, and cultural reality. The research aims at shedding light on an important Period of Iraqi Journalism, namely, that period which followed the Ottoman constitution.

I have chosen the ((Observer)) newspaper as a sample of the criticizing journalistic one during that period. This newspaper was regarded as the most bold newspaper in spite of its short age(19091910 A.D). It criticized the public bad condition of the Iraqi people and covered all the political, economic, social, and Cultural situation. But this newspaper paid the cost for its policy. It was subjected for observing by the authorities. In addition to that its editor in chie (Abdullatif Thenyan) was arrested and then he lockout the newspaper and abandoned the Country.
