Abstract

There is a huge amount of information and references on the net. The data include limitless various sciences and discipline. The means whereby one can access this treasure of information are the "the search engines". These engines provide the users with thousands of pages and links that are relevenmt to his/her subjects. The search engines have many functions and tasks and one function that includes them all is they are the easy way for the user to access his/her intention. The present paper tries to answer the following questions: What is meant by the internet ? To when it can be trace back? What are the history, types and components of the search engines ? Finally the study proposes some suggestions and recommendations for the users.
