Literary criticism between art and science
Abstract
Criticsim is believed to be a literary class uniting art and science since it i.e. criticsim) depends on taste, glance, ability of beauty - sensation, and on the critic's talent and innate preparation for such a hard work.
It is worth mentioning, in this context, that Aristotle's thoughts, regarding sorts of probability a poet presents, are significant in that a poet does not give or reflect facts, as a scientist does. The task of a poet is therefore presenting live examples which leave impact on the moral behaviour. in particular, and on the human behaviour, in general.
This difference between a poet and a scientist - set up Aristotle makes the literary critic deeply perceive that criticism became a sort of art and science, and entails that criticism has to get advantage from the philosophical sciences.
The literary criticism has also benefited from psychology and its theories in dealing with and analysing issues of inspiration and of creation, and in addition - from the theories of aesthetics in studying the technical aspects of any creative work.
It seems then natural that criticism distinguishes the language of poetry and literature from that of science.
